Requirements
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age

- Children age 10 to 17 years of age can be considered if traveling with parents, guardian or a teacher and must take full responsibility.
- Applicants must be in good health to travel and take all the vaccination required for the countries they are visiting.
- Applicants must have no criminal record.
- Applicant must able to raise the program fee.
- It is important that volunteers are flexible and open minded, capable of adapting to new situations and able to provide sensitive leaderships with people all ages and groups.
- Successful volunteers will be resourceful and exhibited community service participation.

A deposit of US $250 is required with your application. The balance is due 75 days before your group departure date, or immediately if you apply within 75 days of your group's departure date. Most major credit cards are accepted. We appreciate your payment by cheque or money order, which avoids the high commission cost charged by credit card companies.

Program cancellation or withdrawal
You may cancel or withdraw from the program. However, we ask that you not to apply unless you are confident in your decision to participate. It is important for you to know that cancellations and transfers are costly to GSDE because we make arrangements for your service program as soon as you apply. Therefore, the deposit is non-refundable.
But if you cancel because of travel warning that applies to the country you are traveling to, 55% of the deposit is refunded. If you withdraw from the program for any reason, you must notify GSDE in writing. Please note that any airfare penalties charged by any airline or travel agent are not included in the service program fee. If by chance you are not accepted, (which is very rare) you deposit will be fully refunded.
Pre-departure information and preparation
Global Seekers Development Expeditions provides you with comprehensive pre-departure package with detailed information on issues that will concern volunteers, such as health, safety, cultural shocks and a free Swahili language lessons. Please make sure that emergency medical evacuation insurance should be included in your travel insurance. It is every important that every volunteer read and if you have questions discuss with Global Seekers Program Coordinator and your doctor for health issues.
Inoculations and Medical Advice
It is volunteer's and all GSDE program participant's responsibility to ensure that they have taken all required inoculations and appropriate medical advice from their doctors and have a travel insurance cover. Please check with your doctor or a local travel clinic or at: www.traveldoctor.com for up to date information on required or recommended vaccinations for the country of your placement. Ensure that you have received all the appropriate inoculations before departure.
In addition, you must bring with you any necessary/recommended medication or medical equipment (such as malaria tablets). To avoid health hazards; it is essential to drink bottled, boiled or filtered water.
